More than 25 Sri Lankan opposition political parties convened for a high-level meeting and dinner in Colombo last night (03).

The closed-door gathering, held at a private hotel, was convened by United National Party (UNP) Chairman Wajira Abeywardena.

A notable attendee at the gathering was former President, Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Senior figures from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), including National Organiser Namal Rajapaksa and Professor G. L. Peiris, addressed the group and shared their perspectives on the opposition’s strategic direction.

Discussions focused on plans to organise a large-scale public rally in Colombo and other coordinated efforts under a unified opposition banner.

UNP Chairman Abeywardena described the meeting as “extremely useful and important,” adding that Mr Wickremesinghe had agreed to nearly all the proposals raised.
