Fresh calls have been made for justice for the slain Tamil MP Joseph Pararajasingham.

The 19th death remembrance for the politician took place at St. Mary’s Church in Batticaloa on 25 December.

Addressing the event, Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) MP Gnanamuttu Srinasan said successive governments had failed to give justice for the killings of politicians, journalists and intellectuals during the Mahinda Rajapaksa regime.

He expected incumbent president Anura Kumara Dissanayake to ensure the rule of law and punishment for the criminals.

On 26 December, protestors organized by ITAK’s youth front marched from near the Batticaloa police station to the Vedanayagam hall, where a remembrance took place.
