Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mujibur Rahuman has alleged that unidentified individuals, some posing as CID and intelligence personnel, have attempted to intimidate him and his family.

He said several incidents involved these individuals visiting his residence and those of his relatives, inquiring about his presence.

He described one recent visit to his sister’s home, during which the visitors claimed they were investigating a complaint about a lost SIM card, a complaint Rahuman said he had never made.

The Opposition lawmaker told The Island that he has raised the matter with senior DIG Asanka Karawita, head of the CID and Financial Crimes Investigation Division, and plans to bring it to the attention of Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya later this week.

Rahuman described the visits as part of attempts to intimidate him, though no further details were provided about the identities of the individuals or the motives behind the alleged actions.
