The United National Party (UNP) has introduced new guidelines requiring all party representatives and MPs to obtain prior approval from the party’s General Secretary before appearing on television, radio, or social media programmes on behalf of the party.

In an official statement, General Secretary Thalatha Athukorale stated that the party will bear no responsibility for individuals who engage in such media appearances without formal authorisation.
