Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe has stated that should the current administration be ousted by public pressure, the National People’s Power (NPP) is prepared to constitutionally appoint a new president through Parliament.

Speaking at a public gathering ahead of the upcoming local government elections, Ranasinghe stated that it is a dream to expect that, if fuel and gas shortages occur again, the public will oust the government and appoint Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe as president.

“It is a dream to think the same scenario will happen again,” Ranasinghe said. “If the people oust the government, the next president will be appointed by the NPP through parliament.”
