Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe visited former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Carlton House in Tangalle earlier today (28), in a meeting that highlighted personal ties between two of Sri Lanka’s most influential political figures.

The visit took place as Wickremesinghe was en route to Colombo from Kataragama.

According to a statement by the United National Party (UNP) media unit, he used the opportunity to express his “heartfelt gratitude” to Rajapaksa for the support extended to him during his period of imprisonment.

The two leaders also reportedly discussed personal matters, with Wickremesinghe inquiring after Rajapaksa’s health and general well-being.
