Sajith will be President by December – Kabir

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Kabir Hashim made a bold prediction during a recent public event, stating that Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa will become the President of Sri Lanka by December this year.

Speaking at a public meeting, Hashim asserted that the current authorities would eventually hand over power voluntarily, much like what occurred during the political upheaval that led to the resignation of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

“Let’s go slowly. We don’t need to grab power. They themselves will hand it over and leave,” Hashim said. “This will be similar to what happened when Gotabaya couldn’t continue. He tried to hand over power, and when our leader hesitated, Ranil Wickremesinghe stepped in and took control. That won’t happen this time.”

The MP added that the SJB is fully aware and will not allow President Ranil Wickremesinghe to assume power again in such a manner.

“Ranil is polishing his shoes and waiting for the government to fall. But we won’t let him in,” Hashim stated, referring to political manoeuvring behind the scenes.

Hashim emphasised that the SJB must take the lead in transforming the nation and that he firmly believes in the party’s ability to do so under Premadasa’s leadership.

“We must take over and change the country. I have complete confidence that the SJB can deliver that change,” he added.
