The Speaker of Parliament is expected to announce this week whether the no-confidence motion filed by the Opposition against State Minister of Defence, retired Major General Aruna Jayasekara, will be taken up for debate.

Parliament is scheduled to sit on the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th of this month, with the decision likely to be revealed during the early part of the week.

The motion, if admitted for debate, could intensify political discussions in the House and mark a significant moment in the ongoing scrutiny of the Minister’s actions.
