Yevan David has been confirmed as the first driver to join the 2026 FIA Formula 3 grid, with AIX Racing announcing the 18-year-old’s signing for next season.

The move marks a significant milestone in motorsport history, as David becomes the first Sri Lankan ever to compete in the Championship.

Currently contesting the Euroformula Open Championship, David has enjoyed a standout campaign with four race victories and five additional podium finishes to date and his rapid progression was further highlighted earlier this month when he secured a top-10 finish in the ultra-competitive GB3 Championship.

David’s rise through the junior ranks has been swift. In 2024, his first full season of single-seater racing, he competed across three championships — Eurocup-3, Spanish F4, and UAE F4 — after transitioning from a successful karting career.

Speaking after the announcement, David expressed his pride and gratitude. “Very thankful to have this opportunity to be racing as the first Sri Lankan driver in Formula 3, and with AIX Racing,” he said. “They’ve proved themselves and I’m excited to achieve great milestones with them for the season ahead.”
