The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has approved the transfer of 106 judicial officers, including District Judges and Magistrates, with effect from September 15.
The large-scale transfers, made on the directive of the JSC chaired by Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena, were executed by JSC Secretary Prasanna Alwis.
Among those affected are 17 District Judges, 23 Additional District Judges, and six Acting District Judges. Seventeen newly qualified officers, having completed training at the Judicial Training Institute, have also received their first postings.
The remaining officers include Magistrates, Additional Magistrates, and Acting Magistrates who had been covering duties at various courts.
The reassignments span judicial regions countrywide, covering areas such as Colombo, Maligakanda, Galkissa, Jaffna, Trincomalee, Kandy, Tangalle, Avissawella, Hatton, Balapitiya, Galle, Anuradhapura, and Kalmunai.
The JSC is chaired by Chief Justice Surasena, with Supreme Court Justices S. Thurairaja and Mahinda Samayawardhena serving as Commission members.
