The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has revealed that 41 high-ranking public officials failed to submit their mandatory asset and liability declarations for the previous year.

The list of non-compliant individuals includes a serving cabinet minister, six former state ministers, four former provincial governors, at least 28 senior diplomatic staff, and two former judges.

Former Cabinet Minister Douglas Devananda and a number of former State Ministers, including Shantha Bandara, Tharaka Balasuriya, Suren Raghavan, Kader Masthan, Sivanesathurai, and the late Lohan Ratwatta are among those named.

Former Governors Senthil Thondaman, Navin Dissanayake, Roshan Goonetileke and William Gamage have also failed to declare.

Under the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023, all public officials are legally obliged to declare their assets and liabilities, both domestic and overseas.
