89 incidents of shooting this year claim 48 lives

A total of 89 incidents of shooting this year so far has claimed 48 lives, while causing injury to 50 others, said the police headquarters.

In the latest incident, a person was gunned down in Panadura south on the night of 27 August.

The victim was the uncle of organized criminal and drug dealer known as Kudu Nilanka, who got arrested in Jakarta, Indonesia.

With that, as many as seven shootings causing three deaths have been reported this year from Panadura police division.
