The People’s Collective for Economic Justice says that getting a nutritious meal has become a dream for people today.

Addressing a press briefing in Colombo, its executive member Darshana Thantrige stated that it costs about Rs. 120,000 per month for a family of four to have access to nutritious food.

He pointed out that there are 1.2 million government employees and 3.4 million private sector employees, and accordingly, out of the 4.6 million employees, only 213,000 receive a salary of more than Rs. 100,000 per month.
