The very same thieving corrupt officials who advised successive presidents and MPs still remain in office with the only change being they defend their positions by pretending that they follow the regulations, a group of UDA employees loyal to the NPP said.
In an open letter to the president, prime minister, ministers, deputy ministers and MPs, they said that protecting those corrupt officials will boomerang on the government.
They wrote that corrupt UDA officials have channelled money to certain NPP candidates in Colombo and in their home villages in order to safeguard their positions.
Their conduct came to be exposed when they suggested that their colleague Loku Bogahawattage Kumudulal be made the UDA chairman.
Politicians may be branded thieves, but developing a country will be very difficult as long as corrupt officials like Kumudulal who give them encouragements hold top positions at state institutes, they said.
