We are shaken by the NPP’s failure so far to fulfil its election promise with regard to justice for victims of the Easter Sunday attacks, said Colombo archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.
That promise is yet to be met, and not even a preliminary mechanism is in place in that regard, he told a church function.
For six years now, the masterminds behind the attacks remain elusive, which is a grave indignity to the lives lost, the Cardinal said.
No leader or party has taken action to implement more than 200 recommendations contained in the presidential commission of inquiry, he noted.
It is a shame on the attorney general’s department that nothing has been done against a former president, prime minister and top law enforcement officials who did nothing to avert the incident despite being prewarned, he said.
