The biggest work stoppage in history cannot be avoided without positive reactions by the government to demands by the CEB employees, said CEB technicians’ union chairman Kosala Abeysinghe.
The resultant inconvenience to the public and economic losses will be the government’s responsibility, he said.
Abeysinghe accused the government of stubbornness although it has been given allowances to grant solutions to their issues, he said.
Services at the weekend could be disrupted with the government yet to respond to the CEB’s work to rule campaign, said the CEB unionist.
Unions completely opposed any moves to raise tariffs, he added.
