The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) is coordinating with other government institutions to tackle the persistent rainwater flooding issue affecting parts of the city, Mayor Vraie Cally Balthazar said.

As heavy rains continue to impact Colombo, several public halls have been readied to provide shelter for displaced residents.

Mayor Balthazar said that the CMC is developing a comprehensive plan that includes short-term, medium-term, and long-term solutions to manage the city’s drainage problems effectively.

She also assured that the council is extending full support to the Disaster Management Centre to ensure timely relief and assistance to those affected by flooding.
