A recent order for the purchase of two mobile phones by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has sparked widespread criticism after the details of the transaction were shared on social media

The purchase order, which was placed for two Apple mobile phones, has raised concerns due to the total cost exceeding Rs. 700,000, a sum that many consider excessive given the current economic challenges facing the country.

According to the receipt, a payment order for the phones was issued on May 5, marking the transaction for the two units of the latest Apple model at a cost of Rs. 301,694 per phone.

After taxes were applied, the total payment for the two mobile phones amounted to a substantial Rs. 711,999.
