Around 20 years are needed to bring about a full transformation in the country and no magic is possible within a period of five years, said deputy minister Chaturanga Abeysinghe at a programme on Sirasa TV.

He said he left his private sector job and entered politics by preparing himself to spend such a duration.

Countries like South Korea, Vietnam and India have made their achievements by spending such lengthy periods, he said.

After changing the political culture, we can now go for that full transformation, added Abeysinghe.
