The allocation of public funds by budget 2026 to raise plantation worker wages has come in for criticism even as plantation companies amassed net profits after tax payments to the state.
As per 2024-25 financial performance reports submitted to the Colombo Share Market, leading plantation companies have recorded many millions of after-tax profits.
