The allocation of public funds by budget 2026 to raise plantation worker wages has come in for criticism even as plantation companies amassed net profits after tax payments to the state.

They are:

Watawala Plantations – Rs. 1,885,000,000

Namunukula Plantations – Rs. 1,526,069,000

Elpitiya Plantations – Rs. 1,329,000,000
