It is reported that Mahinda Siriwardena has decided to step down from his position as the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance in three months and accept a posting at the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

He is to become its alternative director for Sri Lanka, a position that is offered every 12 years.

That follows the nomination of his name by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake when asked to do so by the ADB based in Manila, the Philippines.

Duminda Hulangamuwa, presently economic affairs advisor to the President, has been proposed to succeed Siriwardena as the Finance Secretary.
