Fuel taxes to remain until CPC loans are repaid – Energy Minister

Minister of Energy Kumara Jayakody said that the government has no room to remove existing taxes on fuel until the loans owed by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) are fully settled.

Speaking during a television programme, Minister Jayakody explained that any reduction or removal of fuel taxes at this stage would severely impact the government’s ability to meet its debt obligations.
