GMOA calls for exclusive salary structure

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has urged the government to introduce an exclusive salary structure for all categories of doctors, emphasizing the need for both short- and long-term measures to resolve longstanding salary and allowance disparities within the medical sector.

A senior GMOA spokesman highlighted that the creation of a distinct salary framework should be treated as a top priority, stressing that further delays would only deepen dissatisfaction among medical professionals.

In addition to the proposed salary revision, the GMOA has called for an increase in the Disturbance, Availability, and Transport (DAT) allowance and the foreign living allowance, both of which have remained stagnant despite rising living costs.

The GMOA also urged the government to convert the additional service allowance currently provided to doctors into permanent pay, ensuring greater financial stability and recognition of the critical services rendered by medical officers nationwide.
The GMOA reiterated its commitment to engaging in dialogue with the authorities, but warned that the government must act decisively to uphold the welfare and morale of the country’s healthcare workforce.
