Police on Tuesday night (o4) arrested a member of the National People’s Power (NPP) serving on the Hingurakgoda Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) for allegedly threatening officers and using criminal force at the Hingurakgoda Police Station.

Authorities said the incident occurred after the politician’s brother was taken into custody for obstructing Electricity Board (CEB) employees who visited his home to disconnect electricity due to unpaid bills.
CEB personnel alleged that the brother had damaged their motorcycle during the dispute.
The NPP local government member reportedly arrived at the police station where his brother was being held and issued threats to officers in an attempt to secure his release.
