Judicial interference in case involving senior cabinet minister

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa has alleged that a judge scheduled to hear a court case involving a senior cabinet minister has been transferred ahead of proceedings, raising fresh concerns over judicial independence.

Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (19), Rajapaksa did not name the minister directly, but claimed the minister has a house in Anuradhapura.

Rajapaksa warned against political interference in judicial appointments and transfers, insisting that the judiciary must remain independent and free from executive pressure.
