Nearly 388,000 domestic water supply connections remain disrupted across Sri Lanka following severe floods and landslides, the Office of the Commissioner-General of Essential Services said.
The extreme weather, which has affected communities nationwide, damaged a significant portion of the island’s total of just under 3 million water supply connections.
Kegalle District has been hit hardest, with 75.09% of its connections still out of service.
Kandy District follows, with around 66% of connections yet to be restored.
Puttalam District reports that 52.82% of its water connections remain disrupted, while Kurunegala District has 41.34% still offline.
Authorities are working to restore essential services as quickly as possible, but challenges persist due to damaged infrastructure and ongoing access issues in affected areas.
The Office of the Commissioner-General of Essential Services continues to coordinate repair efforts across the island.
