A luxury vehicle belonging to Sampath Manamperi, a former Pradeshiya Sabha (local council) member who is reportedly wanted in connection with the importation of two containers allegedly containing chemicals used in the production of crystal meth (commonly known as “ice”), has been discovered by police hidden in a garage in Embilipitiya on Tuesday (09).

The former councillor is currently missing and is being sought by authorities over allegations related to the importation of a large consignment of chemicals suspected of being used in synthetic drug production.

According to police, the vehicle had been brought to the Embilipitiya garage by an unidentified individual four days prior and left there.

The person reportedly told garage staff that the vehicle was to be handed over to Manamperi.

Investigations into the incident are being carried out by the Embilipitiya Police.
