National People’s Power (NPP) MP Padmasiri Bandara has vowed that a significant number of politicians will be prosecuted and imprisoned within the month, as part of an urgent and necessary effort to reform Sri Lanka’s political and administrative systems.
“We will send a large number of politicians behind bars this month. Those who need to be held accountable will face the law,” he said, addressing a public gathering.
The MP also said that changes to the public service would be implemented swiftly.
“All state officials identified for transfer or disciplinary action will be dealt with before the end of this month,” he said.
Referring to recent arrests, Bandara claimed that several individuals connected to the previous administration, including former ministers and relatives of a former Chief Minister of the North Central Provincial Council, are already in prison.
