The stock of chemicals used in the manufacture of the drug called Ice and found from Middeniya had been imported in January, when there was heavy congestion in customs clearances, said former provincial councillor Waruna Rajapakse.

The chemicals were dug up from a land at Thalawa, owned by a former SLPP Pradeshiya Sabha member.

They were cleared on 25 January during the same time 323 containers tagged in red were cleared to overcome the congestion.

The chemical looked similar to salt and salt too, was being imported at the time to overcome a domestic short-supply, he said.

Rajapakse made the claims in a video released to social media, which urged investigators to pay close attention to those factors too.
