Milk powder prices increased

The price of imported milk powder has been increased, with a 400g packet rising by Rs. 100 to Rs. 1,200, the Sri Lanka Milk Powder Importers’ Association announced.

Representatives from the association noted sustained increases in global milk powder prices over the past six months as the primary reason for the price revision.

They stressed that despite escalating international costs, domestic prices had been maintained until now to avoid disruptions in supply.

The price of a one-kilogram packet has also been increased by Rs. 250. The association said the current adjustment reflects only a 9% hike—lower than warranted by international market conditions—in an effort to ease the financial impact on consumers.
