No company agreement yet to raise plantation daily wage

Plantation companies intend to have further talks with the government on formulating a mechanism with regard to a proposal to raise daily wage of a worker to Rs. 1,750 from January.

Under the related budget proposal, the state will contribute a daily allowance of Rs. 200 as well.

At present, a worker gets paid Rs. 1,350 which should be raised to Rs. 1,550 from next year.

Plantation companies and the government, including the president, have held several rounds of talks with regard to the matter.
