The way forward in attracting foreign investments is having talks with the trade unions first of all, said Samabima Party leader Deepthi Kumara Gunarathne.

It is pointless to give speeches via television in that regard, he told a discussion for ‘Ideas Front’ YouTube channel.

The country cannot expect progress with the prevailing anarchy in labour, he added.

A political critic, Vipula Karunatilake, joined in by warning the government that a moment will arise when it cannot keep its voters in a world of fairytales any longer.

Thereafter, the government will have to slap the public with a ban and allow only what it says to prevail, he said.

Video below gives the full discussion, presented by journalist Narada Bakmeewewa.
