Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa urged the government to ensure that promised disaster relief reaches those affected, stating that many people have yet to receive assistance despite official commitments.

During a visit to displaced families in the Karawanella area on Saturday, Premadasa emphasised that maximum relief should be provided, including direct support for rebuilding homes, caring for children, and generating income and livelihoods.

“Even though assistance has been promised to clean houses, people are yet to receive them,” he said, calling on authorities to prioritize delivery to those entitled to aid.
