Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has raised serious concerns about the alarming increase in violent crimes across the country.

Speaking in Parliament today, Premadasa highlighted the disturbing trend of murders that took place between the 18th and 21st of this month and warned that this surge in violence, particularly among organised crime groups, is rapidly evolving into a critical national security issue.

Highlighting a recent high-profile assassination in a courtroom, Premadasa referred to media reports detailing an intelligence document that included color photographs of a woman allegedly involved in the crime.

He questioned how such a significant security breach could occur and demanded an immediate explanation from the government.

The Opposition Leader also emphasized the need for a more organized and effective system for handling sensitive intelligence data.

Stressing that the unchecked activities of violent criminals have now become a serious threat to national security, he urged the government to take swift and decisive action to address the deteriorating situation.
