Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) leader Udaya Gammanpila has accused President Anura Dissanayake of misusing public funds, drawing parallels with allegations previously levelled against former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

In a video shared on social media, Gammanpila claimed that President Dissanayake’s recent visit to Germany served no official purpose and was therefore an unjustifiable expense.

He noted that while Germany’s decision-making authority lies with the Chancellor, the Sri Lankan President failed to meet with him. Instead, President Dissanayake met only with the German President whom Gammanpila described as holding a ceremonial role and the German Foreign Minister, a meeting he said did not warrant a presidential-level engagement.

Gammanpila also alleged that state resources were misused in relation to the care of the President’s mother at Anuradhapura Hospital due the deployment of official vehicles and security personnel for personal purposes.

While acknowledging that presidential immunity currently shields President Dissanayake from legal proceedings, Gammanpila warned that legal action would be pursued once he leaves office.
