President updates on Lasantha, Thajudeen murder investigations

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has stated that difficulties have arisen in the investigation into the murders of journalist Lasantha Wickrematunga and Wasim Thajudeen as it has been a long time since they took place.

Referring to the Wickrametunga murder investigation, the president stated that investigators are facing difficulties in investigating a murder that occurred 16 years ago.

He said that a key witness related to these incidents has died and the forensic doctor who investigated the Thajudeen murder has also died.

Despite the difficulties that have arisen in the investigation due to these circumstances, the president vowed that justice will be served.
