President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will definitely have to face a number of court cases personally over his irresponsible conduct, especially with regard to Cyclone Ditwah, said London-based journalist Uvindu Kurukulasuriya.
Said to be a close friend of the president, he charged the incumbent’s conduct was far worse than Maithripala Sirisena, a predecessor of his.
In a lengthy post on social media, the journalist asked the president to inquire from the UNPer who serves as his director of legal affairs about the charges he would have to face.
Kurukulasuriya said his worry was that if by chance the NPP regime collapses, a far-right group led by Dilith Jayaweera will come to power, which is disastrous for the country.
He said, therefore, he was telling the government to do its job properly.
Going on, he alleged the government is run by the president’s university colleagues and big businessmen, and not even the JVP politburo has anyone knowledgeable in governance matters. It is still not late to appoint a group of experts, even retirees, to obtain advice in governance, he said.
