Probes to be expedited against 20 ex-ministers, MPs

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been instructed to expedite investigations against 20-odd ministers and MPs in previous governments.

Public security minister Ananda Wijepala said some of these cases date back to between 10 and 15 years and were covered up by successive regimes.

The present government has ordered the CID to reopen those investigations along with the bribery commission, he said.
