Teachers and principals in service and in retirement held a protest near the parliament access road at Polduwa Junction this afternoon (07) demanding a solution to protracted anomalies in their salaries and pensions.

It happened as president Anura Kumara Dissanayake presented budget proposals for next year.

The protestors said an immediate solution was needed for the issue that has been dragging on for nearly 30 years.

Claiming them to be victims of deception at the hands of many governments, they said they expected relief from 2026 budget at least.
