The Rajarata University Academics’ Association (RUAA) has escalated its symbolic strike, which began on October 30, into a continuous strike, citing serious irregularities in the appointment process of the new Vice-Chancellor.
Addressing a press conference in Anuradhapura yesterday, Professor Nalaka Geeganage, President of the RUAA, alleged that the Acting Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar had arbitrarily issued a newspaper advertisement calling for applications for the Vice-Chancellor post, bypassing established procedures.
Professor Geeganage emphasized that such actions undermine the transparency and credibility of the university’s governance process.
He urged the President’s intervention to resolve what he described as a “pressing and deeply concerning administrative issue” affecting Rajarata University.
