United National Party (UNP) General Secretary Thalatha Atukorala said that former President Ranil Wickremesinghe is prepared to offer advice to the government on disaster management if requested.

Addressing a media briefing, Atukorala said Wickremesinghe’s experience and expertise could be useful in managing national emergencies, should the government seek his guidance.

“Former President Wickremesinghe is a man of ability and full of knowledge. He is willing to help the government in managing disasters. Even we can help, as we have learned from our leader,” she said.

Akhukorala added that the UNP’s position is limited to offering advice and support, and does not involve seeking roles within the current administration.
