MP Asoka Ranwala was transferred from Kiribathgoda Hospital to Colombo National Hospital following the vehicle accident he was involved in, on recommendation by doctors that his condition was serious, said minister Vijitha Herath.

Therefore, the police had no time to find out if he had been under the influence of liquor at the time, claimed Herath in a talk show telecast over Siyatha TV.

According to him, it will be established at the related court hearing Ranwala had not been drunk, but will definitely be found guilty of reckless driving and having faulty brakes in the vehicle.
