Foreign aid has been minimal when compared to the magnitude of the natural disaster faced by Sri Lanka, said former minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.

He has told an internet channel the $2 million and $890,000 given respectively by the US and UK show the low depth the island has fallen to in the eyes of powerful nations.

When compared to similar situations in the past, this is a beggarly sum, said Rajapakshe, adding that it was not good for the donors either, to offer such low amounts of assistance.
