The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has announced that it will deliver its decision on the Ceylon Electricity Board’s (CEB) proposed 6.8% electricity tariff increase within two weeks.
A PUCSL spokesperson said the final determination is expected on or around October 15, following the conclusion of the public consultation process.
The last of these sessions — for the Western Province — is scheduled for October 8.
The proposed tariff hike is aimed at addressing a Rs. 17.69 billion deficit forecasted by the CEB for the final quarter of 2025, covering the period from October to December.
The Commission confirmed that its decision will be made in line with provisions of the Electricity Act and the established Electricity Tariff Price Formula, ensuring regulatory compliance and public input.
