Production of Thriposha, a nutritional supplement for mothers and children, has been suspended since 21 September due to delays in securing import licences for maize.

While cabinet approval has already been granted to import the essential raw material, the necessary licences have not yet been issued.

Chairman of Sri Lanka Thriposha Limited, Amal Attanayake, confirmed the suspension and noted that a second cabinet paper has been submitted in an effort to resolve the matter which also requires the President’s approval.

The production stoppage is reportedly incurring daily losses of approximately Rs. 4.2 million for the state-run company.
