A video circulating on social media has drawn public attention after appearing to show the sister of Boralesgamuwa Urban Council Chairman Pradeep Wedamulla scolding and threatening municipal workers and councillors in Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia.

The incident reportedly occurred when she confronted a group of council workers, insisting that only the roads she identified be cleaned.

Workers had been cleaning the sides of Arunaloka Mawatha and Rubberwatte Road in the Nedimala area at the time.

According to local officials, an NPP councillor for Nedimala and an opposition councillor from the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council were present when the woman, who also serves as chairperson of the Public Protection Committee, arrived and interrupted the ongoing work.

The ruling National People’s Power (NPP) won the Boralesgamuwa Urban Council at the last local government election.
