Women Parliamentarians’ Caucus proposes uniform age limit for marriage

Sri Lanka’s Parliament has paid attention to amending the marriage age limit in the country.

Accordingly, a proposal has been submitted by the Women Parliamentarians Caucus to establish a uniform age limit for marriage under the various marriage laws currently in force in Sri Lanka.

This was discussed during a meeting in the Parliament chaired by the President of the Caucus, Minister Saroja Savithri Paulraj.

The Caucus also proposed to obtain proposals from civil society organizations and relevant stakeholders to prepare the necessary amendments.
