Cases will soon be filed against several officials in the current government, and charge sheets have already been signed for some of them, said Ranga Dissanayake, Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
Dissanayake made this statement at a special media briefing held at the Commission’s premises in Colombo (03), organized to raise awareness about the launch of the National Action Plan Against Corruption.
He stated that cases will be filed against several high-ranking officials from various government ministries.
However, he added that the specific identities of those individuals are not relevant to the Commission’s responsibilities.
The Director General also noted that some of the individuals who are now under investigation had previously worked with the Commission in 2015, 2016, or 2020, and have since returned to those same high-level positions.
He emphasized that although a new government has been formed, many of the officials remain unchanged.
He added that if there are complaints against them, their positions will not protect them, and such roles are not considered relevant to the investigations.
