The Electricity Users’ Association says that a preliminary study conducted by the Auditor General has confirmed that the electricity tariff data of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) is incorrect.

This was revealed at a press conference held yesterday (14).

At the meeting, National Secretary of the Electricity Users’ Association Sanjeewa Dhammika said that CEB officials who made the relevant incorrect calculations should be summoned before the Public Finance Committee.

“Now I have in my hand the report of the Auditor General’s study which has confirmed that the data on the electricity tariffs of the CEB is incorrect. This has been sent to the officials of the Electricity Board. Then the data revision proposals submitted by the CEB for 2024 – 2025 are being questioned here regarding the incorrect estimates. Therefore, CEB officials should answer without whining when the Auditor General calls for information. Now we, the consumers, have paid the electricity bills for the incorrect data. Who is responsible for this now?”
