The industries and entrepreneurship ministry is unfortunately losing faith by the day, said deputy minister Chaturanga Abeysinghe.

Addressing the launch of a pilot project for small enterprises, he said the ministry has failed in its national policy, and has been unsuccessful in parate law and investment policies.

The maximum is being attempted under the existing framework, said Abeysinghe, blaming a major mafia of working to prevent small industries from rising up.

Therefore, it is pointless for entrepreneurs to clash with the government, which has to clash with a hidden, massive force, he said.

The deputy minister suggested setting up a development bank to lay a strong foundation for small and medium enterprises.
